Thermal Conductivity & K-Value Optimization

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) must maintain a constant temperature around -162°C to remain in a liquid state. Ambient heat penetration into pipeline arrays results in the vaporization of LNG, commonly known as Boil-Off Gas (BOG). Controlling this heat leak requires thermal insulation materials with incredibly low thermal conductivity (K-value) at cryogenic temperatures.

Traditional elastomeric foam is augmented via specialized NBR/PVC formulations to remain stable under severe thermal contraction. The closed-cell matrix prevents moisture migration, which would otherwise crystallize into ice, causing structural failure and an exponential increase in K-value.

Integrated Vapor Barriers & Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI)

One of the costliest hazards in cryogenic facility maintenance is Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI). When ambient atmospheric moisture permeates insulation layers and meets cold pipeline steel, water condenses and freezes. Because ice takes up more volume than liquid water, it creates internal mechanical pressure, fracturing the cellular structure of insulation materials.
