By applying a high-performance single-sided adhesive layer directly in the factory environment under controlled temperature and tension, manufacturers eliminate variables associated with manual wet glue applications. The adhesive is typically formulated from an acrylic or synthetic rubber base matrix, structurally backed with fiberglass mesh reinforcement to prevent elongation and warping during installation.
The core material consists of a Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR) and Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) blend. NBR provides high flexibility and elastomeric behavior, while PVC provides chemical resistance and flame retardancy. When expanded using nitrogen gas, millions of micro-cells are formed, with a closed-cell rate exceeding 98%. This high density of isolated cells restricts gas flow, leading to an extremely low thermal conductivity parameter (λ ≤ 0.034 W/(m·K) at 0°C).
